Town Tour

This new tour will go around the perimeter of the Borough of Gettysburg (i.e., not the standard park/battlefield tour). You will hear stories about the fighting in the streets of Gettysburg and how the citizens coped with more than 22,000 wounded soldiers that were left behind by the two armies.

The tour, led by a knowledgable and experienced guide, will go beyond the common tales of Tillie Pierce and Jennie Wade and will include the lesser-known Gettysburg sites and stories of Catherine Foster, David and Rebecca Eyster, Amos Humiston, and the Coster Avenue mural, among others. You will see and hear stories about battle-damaged buildings, the German Reform Church, Race Horse Alley, Oak Ridge, and the "Old Dorm" of Pennsylvania College, the former sites of the Franklin School and the Eagle Hotel, and post-war sites associated with Frederick Douglass, Eddie Plank and Dwight D. Eisenhower.

We will not ride into the busy center of town but one of our breaks will include a walk of about a block each way so we can see the historic Gettysburg Hotel and the homes of David Wills and Thaddeus Stevens, among others.

Approximately 2 hours, including approximately 30 minutes of mandatory video and hands-on training.

$50.00 per person plus the guide fee (see below) plus tax and optional gratuity.

The guide fee is $15.00 per person but there is a minimum total guide fee of $60.00 for the group. (Click for more details about this option).  Except by special request, the group may include customers that are not in your party and, in that case, they will share responsibility for the guide fee.

The tour includes at least one rest stop plus photo opportunities. Reservations are required.

Training and helmets are provided at no additional charge. Our minimum age policy applies.

The tour is subject to a "Gettysburg Amusement Tax" which, at this writing, is 7.46%.

Cancellations or reschedules require at least 24 hours notice by telephone. Reservations are otherwise non-refundable. Click for more details.
